We took the high speed train to Madrid and took advantage of our only day here, as our flight leaves early morning tomorrow, by touring Real Madrid's stadium, visiting the Reina Sofía museum (home of works by Dalí, Picasso and Miró) and reviving the tradition of a great steak dinner at the venerable Casa Paco.
After our Covid testing, all negative, we had a tour of the central market, probably Europe's best food market. One of Valencia's top chef, Jordi Morera, showed us how he selects products at each of his trusted stalls. We then had a tasting at his restaurant and then a wonderful lunch. The boys explored the city and enjoyed the rooftop pool at our hotel before heading to the beach to eat paella.
After an emotional goodbye to their Sevilla mothers, the boys headed to the airport for their short flight to Valencia. We took a quick tour of the historic center and enjoyed some really good ice cream.
Tomorrow we leave for Valencia. The last couple of days the boys finished up projects and had a couple of history classes. We are all excited to root on Spain tonight as they play in the semifinals of the Eurocup against Italy.
