Guernica and Gaztelugatxe

 We had a wonderful excursion to the historic town of Guernica and the beautiful hike to San Juan Gaztelugatxe.

Basque sports class

 We have had two activities postponed to later in the program.  Bruce Springsteen added a second concert here and bumped us out of Real Sociedad's stadium which we planned to tour.  Lightening delayed our planned surfing lesson as well.  The boys did have a class about Basque sports.

Arrival at San Sebastian

 We arrived to much cooler weather and a new set of homestay families.  Looking forwad to three weeks of great experiences.

Aracena ham

 Aracena and its famous Jabugo ham was on the menu today.  We saw where and how the pigs are raised.  Aracena also has a cavern and beautiful hilltop castle.

We also suck in a surprise birthday dessert.

Movies and bullfight

 Today's class was about Spansih cinema and this evening we went to a bullfight.

Barbate, Trafalgar and blue fin tuna

 Today we had an excursion to Barbate, where the blue fin tuna is caught in a way the Phoenicians had done thousands of years ago, with a maze of nets.  We visited a meseum and then one of the best restaurants in Spain, La Campera, that specializes in tuna dishes.  We also had some beach time near where the very important battle of Trafalgar took place.

Spanish guitar and Sevilla FC

 Yesterday we had a top Flamenco and Classical Spanish guitarist come to the classroom to show the boys all the details of the art up close.  Today we had a class about Spanish soccer and a tour of one of the two professional clubs in Sevilla, with a jersey included.

Toros

 Today we went to a ranch that raises bullfighting bulls.  The boys also got to speak to a bullfighter and try their hand at it in the ring.
