Cantera, Puerto de Santa María, Cata

We had a trip to the quarry that provided the stones to build the cathedral of Seville, among many other important buildings.  The trip was unique in that it is not set up for visits, but we had a special guide that agreed to take us there.  We then had lunch in the Osbourne winey in El Puerto, one of the important sherry towns.  El Puerto is also where many trips to the Americas left from and where the first map of the Americas was drawn in 1500 by de la Cosa.

Back in Seville, the boys learned about wine and pairing with the top sommelier of Spain at a shop run by a former defender for Sevilla FC.

Granada

A long day trip to the beautiful city of Granada, where you can still get a free tapa served to you when you order something to drink.  Some free time, a big lunch, and a trip through the old Moorish neighborhood...and of course the full tour of the Alhambra.

Cadiz

We visited Spain's oldest city.  Cadiz is full of towers that watched for incoming boats throughout history.  The boys saw a Camera Oscura that uses lenses and mirrors to project the city live onto a screen.  The boys also sampled  one of the specialties of Cadiz, tortillita de camarones, a fried shrimp toast.
