CORDOBA

The ex-mosque, now cathedral

Maimonides

Beautiful Cordoba used to be the intellectual center of Europe starting in the 8th century, promoting religious tolerance and the advancement of science and philosophy, with one of its stars being Maimonides.  The boys saw the Jewish Quarter with its well preserved, winding streets.  Then they went to the Cathedral which tourists still call the Mosque.  A quick picture on a 1st century Roman bridge and then to the medieval torture museum (always a big hit.)  Then they sampled many local dishes, with salmorejo being the classic dish which they had a modern version of in the gastronomy class.
